First run in 2021, the Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Steeple Chase was introduced to provide a prestigious Festival target exclusively for mares.
Registered as the Liberthine Mares’ Chase, it is a Grade 2 contest for mares aged five and older.
Run on the New Course over 2 miles 4 furlongs runners jump 17 fences.
The race is contested at weight-for-age, with five-year-olds carrying less weight than older mares, and provides a searching test of jumping, speed and stamina.
