RACE SUMMARY
First run in 2005, the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle was introduced when the Cheltenham Festival expanded to four days, initially as the Brit Insurance Novices’ Hurdle.
Upgraded to Grade 1 in 2008, it is the championship race for staying novice hurdlers, open to horses aged five and older.
Run on the New Course over 3 miles with 12 hurdles, it is a searching test of stamina and jumping. Fillies and mares receive a 7lb allowance.
