First run in 2016, the Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle is a Grade 2 contest created to provide an important Festival opportunity exclusively for novice mares.

Registered as the Dawn Run Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle, it honours the legendary mare Dawn Run, the only horse to have won both the Champion Hurdle and Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Open to fillies and mares aged four and older, it is run on the New Course over 2 miles 179 yards, with eight hurdles to be jumped.
